Ask Jane – Air Travel

Veronique, from Paris, asks:
‘I am about to embark on a trip to LA for a friend’s wedding. I’m a bridesmaid and I’m terrified my skin won’t hold up to the long flight. What do you suggest?’
Flying can very easy dry out your skin and throw your body clock into a spin. I once arrived from an overseas trip with a face like a 14 year old – and the attitude to match.
Had I followed these very simple tips, I might have fared a little better:
- apply a rich face cream before take off and reapply at the first sign of dryness;
- regularly apply a lip balm;
- drink plenty of water;
- try and move around at least once an hour; and
- avoid caffeine, alcohol and salt altogether. These will just dehydrate and weaken your skin.
Have a great time at your friend’s wedding!
