Ask Jane – Correcting reddish skin

Lacey asks:

‘I am a 22 year old with a very nice but very rosy complexion. I am not a fan of the red cheeked look, and when I try to cover it up with foundation or concealer it tends to look too caked on. Are there any alternatives to achieve the look of a flawless face without all the foundation? Please help me’.

Hi Lacey,

The best way to reduce the appearance of red patches is to use a mint coloured corrector.  I know that sounds totally weird but it’s true!

In order to cover up the redness, without suffocating your face with all manner of products, then you might want to try a mineral makeup.  I, personally, use EDM’s Mint Colour Corrector and find it works beautifully to neutralise any red.  I just dust a very small amount across my cheeks and chin (which is where I get redness) and then apply a light mineral foundation over the top.  I get all the benefits of flawless skin, without suffocating my face with a million products.

Mint Corrector

For a real life example, the wonderful Liz (who runs the website My Beauty Spot), has a great ‘how to’ article on using mint correctors to neutralise redness.
