Ask Jane – Dealing with dry skin

Drink water to minimise dry skin

‘Jane, this winter is totally drying out my skin.  It’s both flaky and tight feeling.  Can you help?’

It sounds like your skin is dehydrated.  Here are some things I do to keep my skin hydrated during winter.

  • Carry a face mist with you in your handbag.  If your skin starts to flake or feel tight, a quick spritz will give your skin an instant lift.
  • Exfoliate regularly to slough off dead skin, but try to avoid formulas that are overly grainy as these will just exacerbate the dryness.
  • Avoid scrubbing your skin.  Patting is far more gentle.
  • Last, but most importantly, drink at least 2 litres of water per day.
