Ask Jane – Ghost Face
Natalie asks
How come when I put on my make up and take pictures, I’ve got such a white face when I’m really not. I’m Asian. How do I do it so my face isn’t white in pictures? Also, I use Make up forever HD.
Hi Natalie,
At first I thought it might be something to do with your foundation. Many foundations, especially those with SPF included, contain titanium dioxide which can create a ghostly pallor in photos. However, my understanding is that MUFE HD foundations don’t contain sunscreen.
There are a couple of reasons as to why this is happening. Do you use other products in your foundation routine that contain titanium dioxide – ie moisturisers, primers, finishing powders. If so, these will all contribute to a ghost face.
It could also be that your finishing powder, if you’re using one, is contributing to the problem. A common issue with MUFE HD Foundation is that, if you apply finishing powder AFTER the foundation has dried, it will have a tendency to sit on top of the skin and reflect. A trick a lot of make up artists use is to apply the powder whilst the foundation is still wet / damp so that it forms a cohesive bond.
I hope this helps, Natalie.
