Ask Jane – How to remove waterproof mascara

Michaela asks,

How can I remove waterproof mascara and liner? I rub and rub but there’s still gunk all over my eyes.

First off, don’t rub! The eye area is super delicate.

For waterproof products, you’re going to need something stronger than a regular cleanser. Oil based cleaners are the best way to gently remove stubborn waterproof products.

I personally recommended Kryolan’s remover. A gentle swipe across the eye and – wooosh – off it all comes.

I just use regular baby oil. It’s super cheap, and it works better than any other makeup remover I’ve tried so far.

Really? i will try baby oil as makeup remover next time…

Jane

Is baby oil eye safe, Ellie? I had no idea I could use that – what a fab tip!

Ellie

I’ve been using baby oil since I’ve been using makeup — it’s really gentle, and I haven’t noticed any bad side effects. It’s awesome! And more importantly — cheap!

Jane

Ellie, you’re a superstar! I’m definitely going to try it.

I used baby oil in the past but not anymore because I have to rub my eyes in order for it to work…
I will try Kryolan’s remover because I use waterproof mascara (by Covergirl) a lot, it’s the only one that keeps my eyelashes looking long and sexy all day long.
Thanks for the tips!
