Ask Jane – Kristen Stewart’s Look
Allison, via emails, asks:
‘I have blonde hair, green eyes and fair skin but I really love how natural Kristen Stewart’s make up looks. What shades of eye shaddows do you think would be the best to exaggerate my eyes. But yet go for that natural look. Also, what’s the best way to apply foundation? Using a sponge or brush?’
Hey Allison, you are in total luck! A recent ‘How To’ article written by the lovely Beauty Stopper, Jaclyn, tells you exactly what products to use to get Kristen’s look. I loved her look at the Twilight premiere – sexy yet very natural and fresh.
As for your question on whether to use a sponge or brush, there are a few things to consider.
If you are using liquid foundation, it comes down to personal preference. Sponges and brushes work equally well. Personally, I prefer to use a foundation brush as I hate the way sponges suck up foundation. Plus I find I get better precision with a brush versus a sponge. I can more easily target foundation into those nooks (such as around the eye and nose area) that always prove problematic with a sponge.
If you are using a powder foundation, then definitely go with a good kabuki brush. Kabuki brushes will allow you to work up the coverage gradually, resulting in a more natural look. Kabuki brushes are synonymous with mineral makeup but I find they work equally well with ‘regular’ makeup.
