‘How can I use lip liner without ending up looking like a drag queen?’

Thanks for the question, Alicia.  We’ve had a few requests on lip liner so I’ll separate out my answer over the next two days.  Today, we will cover the BIG don’ts of lip liner application.

• Don’t diverge too far off your natural lip line.  We all want our lips to look fuller, but if you draw the line too far away from your lip line, it will look unnatural.  If you do want to make you lips look fuller using this technique, do not outline any more than 1-2mm away from your natural lip line.

• Don’t use a liner that is darker than your lipstick colour (as Pamela Anderson displays, below).   Not only will it age you, but it just looks terrible.  No one wants lips that look like you live in a dumpster.

• Don’t use liner on dry lips.  The liner will drag and you won’t get a smooth line.  Always moisturise your lips before applying any lip products.
