Beauty Stop Hot Pick – BYS Animal Instincts Lip Gloss

bys-animal-instincts

Earlier this week, I swatched four lip glosses from BYS’ Animal Instincts Collection.  Here is my full product review*.

Packaging

These come in cute little animal print inspired tubes.  They are instantly recognisable in my makeup case and just so super cute.

The applicator itself is a doe-foot applicator.  I like these for two reasons.  First of all, they are hygenic.  You can control how much product is distributed and you can wipe off the applicator after usage.  Secondly, they allow for precision touchups if you don’t have a mirror handy or a lip brush to help you keep within the lines.

All up, packaging is an absolute 10/10 for these.

Quality of Product

Despite the high glitter content, these glide on as smooth as any lip balm I’ve tried.

I also find these incredibly emollient and moisturing for my lips. Often, with these types of glitter glosses, manufacturers are so focussed on colour payoff that they forget that women like to have soft lips as well as look good.  BYS have possibly come up with the best combination of style AND substance.

They are also perfect for layering.  I applied my Korres Lip Butter in Plum (review of this one coming up next week.  I think I have found another HG lip balm).

I then layered Grape over the top.  Wow, talk about blinging it up.  I loved how the gloss was able to take a lovely plum and turn it into something quite magical.

Longevity is great with these.  I need to reapply once, maybe twice, a day.  For someone who is pretty lazy about touching up, this is like manna from heaven.

My only criticism of these is that, when they do wear, the colour wears long before the glitter does.  If I don’t touch up, I end up with lips that are covered in glitter, but with no gloss.  Which is kind of strange looking.  Almost like I’ve been dousing my lips in a tray of glitter.

Value for Money

These are only $7AUD.  Which, when you consider how much is contained in the tube, the fact that you don’t need much to create a stunning look, and the fact that you don’t need to touch up much during the day – that’s pretty super duper awesome value.

Would I buy again?

I already own a swag of products from BYS.  These are definitely going on my repurchase list.

Stay tuned next week when I trial the Animal Instinct Eyeshadows.  They are just as good as the lip glosses!
