Beauty Stop Hot Pick – Dinair Air Brush

I did it ladies. I invested in a Dinair Air Brush system. Yes, I totally gave in to the hype. ;-) Here are my thoughts.

I purchased the Foundation Deluxe Kit, which I picked up during Dinair’s Black Friday sale. It was just too cheap to pass up.

Delivery was super fast. I placed my order and received it a week later. Which, given it had to travel from the US to Australia is pretty darn fast.

Everything in this kit screams high quality. From the airbrush itself to the compressor, to the foundations. Dinair was the first air brush manufacturer on the market, and they’ve had time to hone their equipment and formula to a fine art. I was really, super impressed with the kit.

Quality of Product

This works really easy.  Just hook up the compressor and the air brush and you’re ready to go.  I find five drops of the foundation is sufficient for my whole face.  Drop the foundation into the pot at the top of the airgun, turn on the compressor, and start spraying in circular motions all over the face.  The trick with this is to never stop moving.  Circular motions all over the face and you should be finished in 10 seconds.

I am just going to come out and say this.  I will never again apply my foundation any other except with an airbrush.  This is my holy grail of foundation.

Big claim, I know.  But here is why:

  • It takes me 10 seconds to apply my makeup.  Yes, 10 seconds for my entire face.
  • The finish truly is an airbrush finish.  My complexion is evened out without looking cakey.  It looks like my skin, but just a nicer, smoother version of my skin.
  • It lasts all day.  I put this one to go to work and it’s still in place at 6pm when I get home.  Even with blotting during the day, it stays put.
  • The Dinair foundation is silicone and oil free, making it perfect for oily, acne prone people like me.  I only have to blot once a day using this.  Even when the shine does come through, it comes through as a dewy glow rather than an oily shine.

As I said earlier, I can’t see myself using other makeup ever again.  Airbrush all the way for me baby!  I did put some Everyday Minerals on the other day (I was away from home and this was all I had in my kit), and it looked terrible.   Except that it didn’t look that bad.  I’ve just become very accustomed to the flawlessness of the Dinair finish.

Value for Money

This is probably the cheapest of the known and reputable airbrush brands on the market.  At $200, it provides a great entry level point for anyone interested in airbrushing.

Would I buy again?

Yes.  Although as I get better and better at airbrushing, I might invest in different air guns and compressors. But that’s to be expected.  As you get better at something, you want to use better equipment. But I highly recommend this system. It’s amazing, foolproof and will totally change the way you view makeup.

Mina

Hi!
I’m really interested in investing for the Dinair now, the exact same system you’ve got! =D Just wondering how much shipping was to Australia? And which shade option did you choose? =D

From Jane: Mina, from memory it was around $70AUD once it was converted from US dollars. I picked the medium foundation kit and found my perfect match in Honey Beige. I’ve now found an Australian supplier for the foundation itself: http://www.makeup4you.com.au. One bottle of the foundation lasts forever – I have used the same bottle since November and I’m still only a third of the way through it!
