Beauty Stop Hot Pick – Nioxin

As many of you know, I’ve been losing hair at a rapid rate the last three months.  I had an operation in June and it has fallen out in clumps since around August.

In desperation, I purchased Nioxin as I had heard good things about it being able to at least make your hair look fuller.  Some also claim it stops loss and actually encourages regrowth.

I’ve been using it for around six weeks now.  Here is my experience.

Packaging

I bought the System 8 starter kit, which is for medium / coarse hair that has been chemically enhanced and is noticeably thinning.  There are 8 systems in the Nioxin range.  Each system is designed for a different type of hair so it’s important to pick the one that suits your hair.

The starter kit comes with shampoo, conditioner and a scalp treatment that is a mousse formulation.

Quality of product

Let me say, the shampoo and conditioner is excellent.  The shampoo cleans my hair and leaves it smelling so beautiful.  The conditioner glides through my hair and leaves it soft, shiny but without that greasy feeling you often get from conditioners.

The scalp treatment, however…… mmmm I just didn’t like this.  The mousse concept didn’t work for me (it ruins my hair style), and it left my hair feeling dry and gritty.

But, here’s what you all really want to know.  Has it worked in making my hair look better?  I can honestly say, after six weeks worth of use, that my hair loss has slowed right down.  Where I would lose anywhere between 50-100 strands a day, I am now losing around 25.

But, best of all, it’s starting to grow back.  I can see little fuzzy hairs all over my head.  They look terrible but I still love them as it means my hair is starting to recover.

Value for money

This is expensive.  But I am still on the starter kit (which is actually the size of regular shampoo and conditioner) I bought six weeks ago, so I do believe it’s good value for money.

Overall, I love this shampoo and conditioner.  It really did work for me.  If you are losing alot of hair, I’d wholly recommend trying it.
