There used to be a golden rule of fashion that you should never wear white after Labor Day. It was a faux pas to rock the ultimate summer neutral tone. Where did it come from? According to an article on Time, in the early 20th century it was a status symbol to change your style by the season. The general rule was light colors in the spring/summer and dark hues in fall/winter. It still holds true to some degree, but back then it was considered poor etiquette to wear white after Labor Day.
Obviously that is a dated theory and we are still in the depths of the summer heat and Blake Lively looks sizzling hot. I think white is classic look and the winter white trend started years ago.
Blake is wearing a pricey Jenny Packham silk-and-chiffon cocktail dress. It’s embellished with crystal-encrusted neckline. Gorgeous! Unfortunately for us regular gals, it won’t be available until this fall! You can still steal the style with this equally stylish white dress available at Macy’s just under $60.
