It’s rather unorthodox for The Beauty Stop to discuss someone or something in this manner, but I feel Lana’s definitely worthy of a mention. Her beauty, style and fashion will be very influential for those who appreciate something new…or from the past. I’ve been collecting vintage dresses from the late 50′s and early 60′s since 2008 and I’m all OVER this beauty with a voice like a naughty angel.

TBS Thoughts: I would say that I’m capable when it comes to beauty styling: hair and makeup.  Besides this past weekend, I’ve never had my hair done before (other than a cut) because I’m pretty picky and can usually successfully style my own hair. Knowing that, I still wanted to feel pampered so I headed to drybar for a blowout. Talk about an amazing  atmosphere and fabulous decor. The stylist and I discussed what look I was going for- cosmopolitan with a lot of volume. She took me to the back and gave me a good wash plus offered me complimentary coffee or mimosas. Score! The blowout process was easy and painless however the final look wasn’t exactly what I expected. It was a bit frizzy, which for me is the whole point of getting a good blowout… NO FRIZZ. Plus it almost looked like something I could do at home for free. The blowouts are $35 but throughout the salon there are signs about tipping suggesting $10. Keep this in mind, because my $35 blowout went to $45 instantly! At the end of the day I was moderately happy with my ‘do but I kept thinking that for $30 more I could go to my hair salon and get a cut + a blowout. It was definitely a fun treat but not sure if I would indulge again.

I’m very much in favor of coloring one’s hair at home.  I don’t need any special custom color, and I really have priorities when it comes to beauty products and splurging.  Being a brunette, I do realize I’m fortunate and have fairly good results when I color my own hair.  Having said that, I have indeed used other at-home colorants that dried my hair out to the point of being horse-feed hay.  Not this time!

You may remember I had been using Perfect 10 by Clairol.  It was fine for awhile, but since John Frieda is known for de-frizzing, I really wanted to try it, and I’m so glad I did.
