I LOVE this website. When I needed a little white dress in a rush, I found the PERFECT piece right here. What impressed me, too, was the customer service (I was in such a hurry, I actually called in the order for my dress). Genuinely nice people on the other end of the phone are kind of rare these days, and I’m a stickler for it.

The Perfect Little White Dress by Calvin Klein

We all have a closet-full of Little Black Dresses (LBDs), but what about the Little White Dress? I didn’t own one–but needed one for a “White Party” we were invited to last week in Seattle. I was in a BIND. I needed one quickly…and I had to buy it online since we were on vacation. Oh dear.

I struck GOLD with this simple and elegant LWD from CalvinKlein.com !

That 3% of spandex makes all the difference in the world. What was so fantastic, too, was that this little dress was completely lined, and that was never mentioned in the description. The dress is shown with a belt, which was not included–and was completely unnecessary. I was comfortable in this dress, and felt rather sassy during our event. I can’t recommend this dress enough.

Oh, and yes! Those are the Chinese Laundry shoes I discussed back in April! Clearly, I decided on the blush rather than the black.

Stilettos vs. Ballet Flats – One Extreme to the Other

I began wearing heels of some sort since the year 1975. I’ve been in love with high heels since I was a toddler. I still am…and while I’m sure this is a deep, lasting relationship, it hasn’t been perfect. There have been disagreements, resulting in spinal surgery, in fact. (Thankfully, the authorities were not involved, though.) Apparently, 30-odd years of wearing heels ranging from 3.5 -5 inches doesn’t promote foot, hip or back health. You don’t say?

I had spinal surgery a couple of years ago. My tailbone (L-1, S-5, if we’re being technical) was bone on bone. I was in such pain from years of wearing heels, two giant babies….oh, and did I mention high heels? I was getting epidurals and even a procedure called a “pain generator”. I won’t go into the hideousness of it all–but let’s just say I felt like I was in Eli Roth’s torture-porn film, Hostel. I wish I were kidding.

I eventually had the spinal fusion, and I have four screws, a metal plate and cage surrounding and holding my tailbone together. I switched to flat shoes…ballet flats. The wrong KIND of ballet flats. I was wearing cute little satin flats that had no support and very flat leather soles. So then my knees starting hurting. GAHHHH!

Oh, yeah. They were supercute and I wore them until they were scuffed…then I found the SHOE.

Me Too Ballet Flats and Satin Pumps – Nordstrom – $89.95-99.95

I have owned six or eight pair of Me Too shoes. All ballet flats. The first time I squished my toes into these amazing soft and cushy shoes I couldn’t believe it. Better than bare feet and better than slippers…I even wore them a black pair and my houndstooth pair on vacation in Florence, Italy and we walked for hours. The soft, yet very supportive ballet flat feels like it has built-in shock absorbers with very soft rubber sole. You truly need to try a pair of these on to get the full effect.

Be good to your feet! I am trying to be a good girl and wear my gorgeous heels only when absolutely necessary. (Like running down to the 7-11…)

We recently saw a CK ad and, literally, said aloud, “Holy crap is that makeup marvelous!” So obviously, we investigated.

The CK “Face” collection is brand new and goes hand in hand with the CK girl’s wardrobe – minimal yet modern. Even cooler is the fact that they pull many of the makeup shades right off of the runway, converting trendy fabrics and hues into colors for the “Face.”

If you log onto Sephora you can browse the collection, get some cool tips and tricks, and even see precisely how the artist did the model’s makeup to really wrap you head around that CK look.

As if that weren’t enough, you can also buy a kit (Vivid is pictured) that includes matching makeup and anything you could possibly need to recreate the look.

We don’t know what’s going on or why Calvin Klein is inundating our brains lately, but we like it!
