Dior Garden Party Nail Vernis – $23 – Nordstrom

The first Dior Vernis with a subtle and delicate scent of roses. The floral green of Waterlily and the pretty lilac of Forget-Me-Not provide the perfect finishing touch for any spring time celebration. The pastel hues of these two new shades are the perfect finishing touch for party perfect nails.

I will say though, if anyone can pull this off, it’s most certainly  Dior.  I’mcurious to know how long the actual “fragrance” of the nail polish lasts.  However, the very idea of a nail product of any kind that emits a pleasant scent is astonishing, at the very least.

Check out  the new “commercial” for Christian Dior’s classic collection, Lady Dior, directed by John Cameron Mitchell, which spoofs the celebrity set in Los Angeles and their superficial ways.

I know. We all feel this way from time to time, don’t we?  Minus the car, driver, pool, L.A. view, photographers and stylists…otherwise?  I know the exact feeling.

J’Adore by Christian Dior – 3.4 oz Eau de Parfum Spray – $98 – Sephora

Take a look at the new advertisement-film for Christian Dior’s lovely fragrance, J’Adore. The piece was directed by the renowned Oscar-winning director Jean-Jacques Annaud (Black and White in Color, The Name of the Rose, Seven Years in Tibet).

Wearing black shades, skinny jeans and stilettos, Theron, the face of the fragrance, arrives late backstage for a fashion show set at the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles.

During the course of the ad, Theron changes into a gold gown while appearing to exchanges glances with Dietrich, Kelly and Monroe, footage of whom appears courtesy of CGI.

“It was incredibly glamorous and fantastic. I don’t think I’ll experience something like that again in my lifetime,” said Theron.

I think I’ll go watch this little piece of luscious film-making again…

I remember in my Crayola box of 96 that Midnight Blue was my favorite crayon to use.  It had a smoothness and pigment that wasn’t waxy like so many of the other hues in the box.  Even then, I felt the deep blue had a mystery, if you will.  It was exotic and I always colored with it and sharpened the crayon til it was no more.  What an odd thing to recall.

I really must confess, I don’t wear blue clothing (other than jeans sometimes), and I have never used blue eyeshadow, because of the stigma attached to the tacky baby-blue eyeshadow.  It has always made me cringe.  However.  Dior’s new palette is pretty stunning, isn’t it?

I’m a gal who believes that red never goes out of favor.  It’s classic.  Sure, there are different hues, but the deep, perfect blue-red is always chic.  And when it comes to Christian Dior, I can’t say NO.

Did I mention that I have a bit of a foot-fetish?  Did I share too much?  Naah.  I will bet I’m not the only one out there who checks out feet.  Okay…I’ll stop.

Dior Hydra Life Skin Perfect Pore Refining Moisturizer is fresh, non-oily and so very silky upon application.  My face feels so smooth and fresh–and it continues to feel lovely all day long.  I do like to wear it as a night cream, simply because it feels so amazing.

However, the famously eccentric  Christian Dior chief designer since 1996, John Galliano shocked even the most jaded in the fashion world with his “Hitler-loving“, hate spewing and racial slur-filled video which was taken during  an apparent drunken rant  at the exclusive Paris restaurant,  La Perle.  I really would rather not post it here;  if you feel the need to see this drunken nut go off on patrons, it’s all over the internet.

In a statement made by LVMH execs:

“In light of the deeply offensive statements and conduct by John Galliano in a video made public [Monday], Christian Dior has commenced termination procedures against him,” read the announcement.”

Even Oscar award winning actor Natalie Portman released a statement on the matter saying,

“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way.”

The history of The House of Christian Dior has been smudged by Galliano’s hate-fest.  I have a personal connection to Christian Dior myself.  I was in management in the Dior Cosmetic and Beaute` line, and I completely immersed myself in all things Dior.

There aren’t many too many couture collections that I would wear right off the runway, given the chance and the proper bank account.   Galliano embraced the beauty and elegance that was known as “The New Look” which shocked the fashion world in 1947.

I’m gonna come right out with it:  I wish Mila Kunis had been chosen as the Face of Dior Addict.  She IS the new “It-Girl“, after all.

I think Mila would have been a wiser choice to woo the next generation of Christian Dior Beaute` “addicts”.   So there.

Dior mascara enjoys a somewhat mythic reverence among beauty lovers (although I’ve never entirely understood the love), so I know that a lot of you will be excited to see the Dior Extase Mascara Set.

The set includes a full-size tube of Dior’s newest mascara formulation, plus mini tubes of both DiorShow Iconic and DiorShow Blackout mascara. I always enjoy being able to carry a mini mascara in my purse to update my look throughout the day or add a little drama at night, so getting two extra minis for only a couple dollars more than a full tube is a great deal indeed.

Sephora, $30.

Just like the twice-yearly Paris couture shows promise avant guarde clothing and accessories, they also afford makeup artists and stylists the opportunity to try out their most creative and cutting-edge idea on a world stage. In the end, we all benefit from their inspiration!

Dior is always a brand to watch at couture week for both clothing and beauty, and the brand’s bright shadow and dark lips were certainly a sight to see. The geometric shapes above the eye set off the feminine clothing and gave everything a modern twist.

What can we glean from these looks? First, the dark lipstick trend isn’t going anywhere, so go ahead and find your perfect color now. You’ll definitely need it later. Second, that it’s always ok to play with candy colors – you’ll have to tone it down to an accent color for everyday life, but it’s still worth a shot.
