Now, hands up who LOVES glitter?

That’s more like it.

NYX is another high quality, low cost cosmetics company. I think I personally own 90% of NYX’s collection, just because it’s so cheap and it always works.

The Glitter Cream Palette has me in a glitter coma. It’s seriously bright, sparkly and oh so beautiful. Included in this palette is 21 outstanding shades – ranging from bright pinks to silvers to blues to browns. Whatever your glitter fetish, there is a colour here to satiate you.

Glitterati Glitter Cream Palette

$12 – NYX

I loved the pinks.  They are much softer than the colours, which may not appeal to some, but they appeal to me immensely because each is perfectly acceptable to wear in an office environment.

Pearl – is a base colour which just a hint of shimmer.

Lilac Pearl – is a lilac pearl.  It’s stunning.

Baby Pink Pearl – is a very soft pink and works beautifully with Pearl for a natural look.

Sky Pink Pearl - is a more reddy style pearl.

Fanta Pearl - is more a pink than an orange.  This is my favourite out of the pinks. The colour is so interesting and multi-facetted.

Purple Pearl - reminds me of Prince in the 1980s.  This colour is so Purple Rain.

Pearl Mania

Here are the Nyx Pearl Mania swatches for the Black / Silver family – with a random brown thrown in for good measure!

Black Pearl - is probably the worst pigment out of the collection. It’s just black shadow with glitter dumped in.  I found it very uninspiring.  I like blacks to have a few different hues and depth.  This was just like charcoal with glitter.  Ergh.

Charcoal Pearl - is a much better darker colour.  It’s like a gun metal grey with a subtle shimmer.

Silver Pearl - is another great base colour.  I use it in the evenings as a base all over my eyelid.  It also work beautiful dusted gently across the shoulder blades

Mocha Pearl - is a beautiful gold colour, with flecks of coffee-shades through it.

Walnut Pearl - is a great colour for work.  It’s dark, but still gives off enough shimmer to make it interesting.

Personally, I find the MAC pigments to be better in this shade range.  They are just more vibrant than Nyx.  I’m still enamored with Nyx though – I just can’t get over how much quality product you get for the amazing price!

Pearl Mania

First off, though, I swatched the Blues.

The blues were another hit for me.  I don’t normally wear these colours (having green eyes myself), but I can see myself still using them.

Lime Pearl - is quite an amazing colour.  A light green with lovely gold flecks in it.

Space Pearl - is a purply style blue.  There is less shimmer here but the colour is so rich, you don’t notice.

Ocean Blue Pearl - is like a swimming pool.  It reminds me of Fiji and summer holidays.

Turquoise Pearl - is by far my favourite.  It’s blue but there are flecks of teal through it.  Amazing.

Baby Blue Pearl - is a sky blue.  Lots of shimmer here.  I can imagine wearing this on a hot summer night with a light summer dress and the man of my dreams.

Pearl Mania

Once again, these are great colours. I’m loving this range more and more!

Mink Pearl is a very sublt goldy-brown.

Oro Pearl is like a dirty gold.  I really love the subtlety of the brown.

Orange Pearl is like Fanta.  That’s the only way to describe it!

Penny Pearl is my favourite out of the Bronzes.  It’s got a strong reddish tinge to it and is uber sparkly and bright.

Finally, Rust Pearl looks like just rust in glitter form.  Delicious.

My initial assessment of these pigments are that, whilst they are not as vibrant as MAC, they are GORGEOUS. They are finely milled, blend easily and beautifully and the colours are stunning. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to MAC, these little beauties are it.

The following swatches were done with a dry brush.  I can’t wait to see how much these colours lift when I do a wet application.  The space shuttles will be able to see me from space!

White Pearl is the perfect base.  I think it would be the must have pigment as it will work with every other colour in the collection.

Nude Pearl has the slightest hint of gold in it.  Like White Pearl, it would work well with other pigments.  It’s the colour you want when you don’t want too much colour, but are finding the White Pearl a little boring.

Yellow Gold Pearl is my absolute favourite out of the nudes.  The colour is instantly vibrant.  It reminds me of decadence, wine and food.  I feel like a princess when I wear this  colour.
