Madonna and Lola want you to be the next face of Material Girl!

The brand’s advertising campaign will take on a new direction for spring by hosting nationwide casting calls for the next “Lucky Stars” to appear in the national marketing campaign.

The “Lucky Stars” model search will launch on Wednesday, November 2nd at Macy’s Herald Square in New York and will culminate on November 21st online at www.materialgirlcollection.com.

A celebrity-driven panel of judges, led by current Material Girl spokesperson Kelly Osbourne, will be searching the country to find the next Material Girls.

“Lucky Stars” casting calls will be held at five of Macy’s flagship locations:

Herald Square, New York – Wednesday, November 2 at 5:00 p.m.
Dadeland, Miami – Friday, November 4 at 6:00 p.m.
State Street, Chicago – Tuesday, November 8 at 5:30 p.m.
Union Square, San Francisco – Saturday, November 12 at 2:00 p.m.
Beverly Center, Los Angeles – Saturday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m.

Madonna and Lola said, “This is not your standard model search. It’s more about attitude. We are looking for a stylish, adventurous, creative, free spirit. We’re both looking forward to meeting the ten finalists in New York in December.”

Material Girl contestants should bring a photograph of themselves and be prepared to tell the Material Girl judging panel why they should be the next Material Girl. Contestants can also upload their photograph to www.materialgirlcollection.com and explain in 100 words or less why they should be selected as one of Material Girl’s “Lucky Stars.”

The judging panel will narrow all entries down to 36, which will be placed online at www.materialgirlcollection.com to be voted on by the public, narrowing it down to 10 finalists.

Here’s the exciting part. The top 10 finalists with the highest votes will be flown to New York City, where Madonna and Lola will choose the winners and the new faces of Material Girl’s spring 2012 campaign.

The “Lucky Stars” winners’ ads will debut in fashion and lifestyle magazines and be part of a digital and outdoor campaign and in-store Macy’s marketing collateral and receive a $5,000 cash prize.

See Here for contest rules and regulations.

By now, we’ve all heard about “Hydrangea-Gate” and how Madonna “loathes” the fluffy deep lavender-blue blossoms. (I happen to adore hydrangeas.) In the media, Madonna continues to perpetuate her faux-English snippiness (which I’m alternately irritated by and sort of admire) by POSSIBLY demanding that a few chosen volunteers (read: ALL OF THEM) at the 2011 Toronto Film Festival, turn their faces to the wall as she walked by. Rumor has it that the incident DIDN’T occur; and rumor has it that it indeed DID happen. But that’s neither here nor there, because Madge wore Tom Ford to the premiere of the film she directed, W.E.

Madonna promoting W.E. at TIFF in Tom Ford

Naturally, pricing isn’t discussed on Mr. Ford’s online store, for that would be oh, so gauche. It’s the old “if you have to ask, you can’t…”–well, you know how the rest of that saying goes.

Madge working the red carpet at TIFF

Nevertheless, Madonna looks absolutely impeccable. And I really love how her veiny, sinewy arms were covered in sheer black (so the public was spared having to look at them…ahem), and her hair was so feminine with the graceful waves. The very fitted dress is amazing and I love the sheer black hose and her ankle-strap footwear. I wonder, though, who was more icy and snobbish during the fitting of the dress–Tom or Madonna? Maybe they arm-wrestled to determine the winner; which in that case, Madonna would have been awarded the trophy.

I think I’ll send her some hydrangeas to congratulate her on her TIFF directorial debut, then promptly turn my face to the wall.

Oh, and this look? A HIT.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s Gala is referred to as “The Oscars of Fashion”. This year’s Gala is honoring the late, and so very gifted, Alexander McQueen, with a tribute called Savage Beauty.

One of the many iconic pieces of McQueen’s work displayed at the Gala

via: WWD:

“Sarah Burton, McQueen’s creative director and his right-hand woman for 14 years, was clearly emotional at the event—and understandably so. Not only was the venue the site of McQueen’s first post-graduate show, but the handful of pieces on display, including his calf-hair horned jacket and a gilded feather jacket [above], reminded everyone why McQueen was such a national treasure. SamCam gave McQueen his due gravity introducing the event:

“We are so happy that one of America’s great institutions is supporting one of the U.K.’s most deeply talented designers, Alexander McQueen,” she said from the podium. Bolton, for his part, agreed wholeheartedly; McQueen, he said, was an “easy sell” for the theme, especially given the late designer’s tremendous body of work.”

Of course, we now know that Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen was the designer of the wedding dress of the century for Duchess Catherine (fka Kate Middleton) over the weekend .

Take a look at a few of the gorgeous gowns spotted on the Met Gala’s Red Carpet this evening…

Rihanna, also in Stella McCartney

Madonna looked surprisingly un-embalmed; Taylor Swift is trying too hard, as is Jennifer Lopez–but she’s entitled. I can’t decide how I feel about Christina Ricci, who is wearing and accompanied by Zac Posen.

Jennifer Lopez in Gucci

One of my favorite red carpet looks at the Gala was Janelle Monae in Chanel. It’s so true to her image and I love the black and white. LOVE it.

Salma Hayek is absolutely a vision. Love the fact that she wore a McQueen gown in honor of the late designer.

Oh, hey–I saved the worst for last. Believe me. You don’t want to see the front of this dress.

Oh what in crazy granny is this mess? Dear sweet style Gods, have mercy on this abomination. If someone about 30 years younger would be wearing this it’d be one of those boundary pushing ensembles you could get away with. However, Madonna has managed to take this to a Mach 3 Fug.

While the point of the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala is to strut your most unique and trendsetting garb, this was a horrid choice for her. She really needs to start acting her age. While women over the age of 20 are no longer damned to sweater sets, she could have produced a look with her fashion pioneering skills without looking so desperate. (I am not sure where the idea to cover a mangled hanger with a few napkins sewn together came from either.)

Perhaps Madonna should be taking notes from Agyness Deyn. The English rose captured old Hollywood glamour in Bulgari. She paired a yellow gold tourmaline, emerald and diamond ring with a white gold and diamond pave necklace. It’s a combination that was subtle yet still managed to turn heads. One can never go wrong in pieces from the lux jeweler. Someone send Madge a memo on that.

On a special note – Bulgari is launching a skin care line that I am eager to try. I will be sampling some of the products and reviewing them. If you are like me and can’t wait to try it, you can get buy yours now. (Click HERE to Shop Bulgari’s Skincare line.) More to come!

Without makeup, big-screen celebs can look as drab as the rest of us on a supermarket run. One look at these pictures and you’ll wonder who stole their sizzle. But read on. Makeup artists for some of the world’s biggest beauty brands have put together step-by-step face charts that will take your face from wan to wow, just like your favorite star.

Who’s that girl? Sure, her Madjesty is hard to miss, even when she hides her makeup-free face beneath a trucker’s cap. But getting Madonna red-carpet ready requires a bit more of the royal treatment.

Madonna effortlessly channels a modern Veronica Lake. Her blond curls, makeup and nude lips softly reflect the light, while her sultry blue-green eyes smolder.

To get the Material Girl’s trademark dewy skin, mix a drop of pearlescent highlighter into your moisturizer or foundation. Emphasize eyes with a thick, bold stroke of eyeliner, and load up your lashes with some serious black mascara. Finish the look with a soft blush and lush lipstick.
