Caviar Nails on Runways at NY Fashion Week

I’m not sure how I feel about the Caviar Nails which were seen on the runway for Cushnie et Och’s show at Fashion Week in New York this week.  Super-dark nail polish (even black, as long it’s Chanel) has been a favorite of mine for years.  A glossy, almost mirror-like shine is something I adore…the shinier the better.

Let’s get back the the Caviar Nails that Pattie Yankee from Dashing Diva brought to the runway.  Take a good look..the effect is 3-dimensional.

Dashing Diva polish in “Limo Service” – $8

We even found instructions on how to achieve this über goth and glam look at home!

1. Apply 2 coats of black nail polish

2. Apply nail glue all over the nails

3. Dip nails into black beads

4. Spray with a nail activator spray to finish

Don’t count on every nail salon on the corner to  offer this unusual look.  For those of you who are more daring, I suggest the DIY method.

My bottom line?  I think “Caviar Nails” are fantastic for the runway or for a special night at your favorite Industrial-Goth nightclub (do they still exist? The Catwalk in Seattle closed down years ago!) .  For everyday wear, though? I have an inkling that at the slightest bump, little black beads of “caviar” will be left as your calling card.
