Here we have Dita von Teese looking like she walked out of old Hollywood and into 2009. As the clock runs down on another year, I am reminded of Dita’s classic style. My safety net will always be classic styles. You can’t go wrong in a simple dress and a red lipstick can be your best friend.

The burlesque queen talked about some of her favorite products and tips. Believe it not, some of her favs are drug store staples.

• My favorite foundation is L’Oréal True Match ($11). I use N1. It’s Cher’s favorite, too.
• I love red lipstick with fab packaging. YSL, Dior Rouge Bingo, Guerlain Excess de Rouge ($30) is a fave.
• Sadly, matte lipsticks are becoming extinct, especially in the drugstore. Everything is glossy. I like MAC Ruby Woo ($12).
• Sunscreen is very important but there isn’t one miracle cream, we’re all different.

I couldn’t agree. More sunscreen is the best preventative for early aging and skin blemishes such liver spots (real name solar lentigines).
