Common Beauty Blunders
Are you making some of these common beauty mistakes? I was guilty of several of these no-no’s.
Shimmery Shadow: As we get older, we retire our tube tops and the rise on jeans begins to head back to our belly button. One mistake we continue to make is with makeup. Shimmery shadows can define and highlight wrinkles. For Those of us with age and experience should stick with matte palates. Use a colored shadow to apply to the crease of your lids. It will give the illusion that your lids are receding for a more wide-awake look.
Pimple Popping: I always looked for to aging, not just because I want to solve all my problems with cheesecake like the ‘Golden Girls,’ but because I was under the delusion that acne would vanish as I got older. Wrong. Acne can affect more than half of adult women according to a study in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. Don’t be tempted to pop those blemishes. Use a facial scrub with exfoliating qualities.
Spray Tan No-No: Do not use a lotion before you spray tan. Cheers for skipping the tanning bed, but don’t use any moisturizers before you get your tan on. The lotion creates a barrier between your skin and the spray which will prevent you from fully absorbing the color. Also, skip the lotion afterward…it interferes with the DHAs, or tanning agents, that take six to eight hours to develop.”
To Shave or Not to Shave: Laser treatments have me wondering if I need to shave or not before I get a treatment. The rule is to shave before a laser treatment. Shaving before your treatment will reduce pain and increase effectiveness. Do NOT use wax or depilatories and lasers. Lasers work by detecting a contrast in pigment between darker follicles and lighter skin, but wax and chemicals destroy hairs’ roots.
