Fashion Week Beauty: Christian Dior

For his Fall/Winter 2010 Ready-to-Wear show, John Galliano expanded on the themes he first set forth last month in the Christian Dior couture show in Paris – nobility, equestrianship, and period detailing. The show’s styling fit the mood of the clothes perfectly.
The makeup was like something out of an ultra-high-budget period film set in the English countryside – pretty, bee-stung lips, pale skin, lots of contouring blush. Hair was big and dramatic, like someone had knocked Marie Antoinette’s wig askew and she hadn’t bothered to fix it.
The looks may not be literally transferable to everyday life, but perhaps it will inspire a few more people out there to consider the easy virtues of pale skin and messy hair.
