Have a Beer In the Name of Beauty

I get the most random tips, questions and ideas from fellow mavens. There are a plethora of DIY tricks that make your beauty arsenal work at its best. Want to really curl your lashes? Heat up your eyelash curler with a hairdryer or warm water before you squeeze those lashes. Rub ice cubes on your face before bed to rejuvenate cells, prevent acne and keep wrinkles under control.

There are thousands of them. Click HERE for more beauty tips and tricks you haven’t already heard a hundred times… The latest, and possibly my new favorite, is beer.

Nothing is better than washing down some chicken wings with a beer during a game. I am not a connoisseur as my local dive bar serves PBR for a $1.50 a glass, I’m all over it. My true passion for the adult beverage is a nice dark beer. Guinness is temporarily fixes all my stress after a long day at the office.

But, beer and beauty? Yup! Rinsing your hair with a cold one is actually an amazing conditioner. Catherine Zeta-Jones once admitted to using beer as her secret weapon for soft locks.

My doctor explained that the natural barley and hops in beer make it rich in proteins and vitamins that your hair will appreciate. It won’t stimulate growth, but it will provide a shine and fuller body. Be wary though, the rinse can be drying and have a smell that might not make your results worth it. Try it, but make sure you rinse well and follow up with a fragranced leave in conditioner if you find the odor to hang on.

Use a flat beer or heat up a brew and let it cool. Pour it over your head from roots to strands. Let it soak into hair for 3-4 minutes and rinse well.

*I do NOT recommend bring a bottle into the shower. Pour it into a plastic measuring cup or go for the canned beers.

I am pretty sure I’ve done this once.

I’ve always wanted to try the beer trick. I hope it doesn’t make my hair too soft, otherwise it won’t hold a curl.

I would if I didn’t think the smell would linger on forever.

LOL believe it or not I have actually tried this too and it worked!

Sounds interesting but does your hair smell like beer after?

I think I’ll have a beer right now.
