You can see Claire Danes and Brooke Shields flashing their lashes for that magic paint that lengthen eyelashes. Long, thick lashes that flutter open and gleam like angel wings for your eyes are on the top of every woman’s must-have list. Combine that with perfectly lush and well groomed eyebrows, and you have a look that doesn’t even need makeup.
Aside from mascara and false lashes, there are other more permanent solutions to lengthening lashes. I always think of Elizabeth Taylor’s gorgeous peepers. She was blessed with an extra row of lashes that flanked her violet eyes.
Prescription Liquid Wonder – As I mentioned, two lovely celebrities are currently hawking Latisse. The FDA approved medical marvel boast an active ingredient bimatoprost. Nearly 80% of random users saw results in a double-blind study according to research presented at the American Academy of Dermatology. The elixir signals your lash to start the growth phase earlier. It does have some cons…irritation, redness and darkening of the iris are the most common, but aren’t common according to Miami based dermatologist, Joely Kaufman. It also comes with a sizable price tag hovering in the $110+ a month range.
Over the Counter Options – There are some wonderful over the counter serums that will do the job. You might not see the rapid results of Latisse, but they still work. Kaufman told Elle magazine, “Think of these products as vitamins and conditioners that promote healthy hair growth.” Try Revita.EPS, Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-In-1 Eyeliner or Elizabeth Arden Prevage Clinical Lash + Brow Enhancing Serum.
Tricks of the Trade – To fake fuller lashes, gently pull your eyelid up and, using a slanted brush dipped in gel liner, trace along the inner waterline. The line will create the illusion of density by filling in the visual gaps along your lashes.
