So I decided to do a comparison of these two, since there are many similarities. I have been using both for a few weeks now so I think I’m reasonably well qualified to comment.

Packaging

Let’s be honest. The packaging on both of these utterly suck. The bottles attract dirt and the lack of a pump on both makes accidental spills a near daily event.

Formula

Both of these are super runny formulations. I can’t tell the difference.

Application

Both are wonderfully easily to apply. I find I get the best results when I use a beauty blender – it just gives me an air brushed finish.

I find the NARS to be slightly easier to work into the skin. It applies almost like a moisturiser whereas the Neutrogrena needs a little more work to get a natural finish.

Longevity

Both last well on the skin.

In terms of lasting longer, Neutrogena definitely has the edge. I can take this off after 10 hours of wears and am always pleasantly surprised at how much foundation comes off on the makeup wipe.

But I like how the NARS feels much better. The Neutrogrena feels like foundation. The NARS feels like my skin and that, for me, is really important.

Colour Match

There is no contest here. Punjab is a PERFECT match for my skin whereas the Natural Beige is probably marginally too pink for me.

Price

No contest here again. Neutrogena is less than a third of the price of NARS. It is extraordinarily good value.

So which one do I like?

I really like the Neutogena BUT I like my NARS more. The colour match and the way it makes my skin feel is what pushes me in that direction.

Having said that, the differences between these two foundations really are minimal. So, if you’re a little cost conscious, then definitely try the Neutrogena.
