The cat eye is a huge trend right now. It’s sexy, sultry and incredibly easy to screw up.
The secret to perfectly lined lids isn’t all in application. Keeping a balance is key. It’s my #1 rule when it comes to makeup. Pick one feature to highlight. If you are making a statement with you a bold lip, then your eyes should be toned down. The same holds true on the other side of the coin. When sporting a cat eye, keep the rest of your makeup minimal.
First, apply a neutral shadow across your entire lid using a fluffier brush. Apply a light highlighter just under your brow and sweep it out toward the edge of our eye. Next, apply a slightly dark matte shadow across your out crease. Blend well.
To goof-proof your technique, start by using a liquid pen applicator to dot your lashline. If you are a newbie, use a gel to help give you better control.
I like Tarte aqua-gel eyeliner.
Next, trace over your trail for a more precise finish. Using your bottom lashline as a guide, make a small line that extends past your upper lashline and points upward toward the end of your brow. Imagine that you are extending your lower lash line upwards towards the end of the brow.
Finally, extend your upper lashline to fill in and connect the line you made from your lower lid.
Finish it with a few coats of mascara and a sweep of brow filler. The heavier brow will help frame your face.
