I’m not usually one the believe in hype – if I’ve heard enough good things about a product that I think it’s going to change my life, it’s a good bet that whatever it actually does do is going to disappoint me. The same goes with movies, books, whatever – hype is usually the easiest way to keep me away from anything. I’ve never read any of the Twilight books, for example.
But the MAC Volcanic Ash Exfolatior seemed too perfect for me to ignore it forever. It’s a limited edition product that was recently re-released, and I finally picked up a bottle to test it out. I figured that, at worst, I was going to be a little disappointed and out $20.
Wow, I couldn’t have been more wrong. I’ve been using the product three times a week for two weeks now, and my skin is softer, clearer, and more even than when I started. Because this isn’t a forever product, I went back to my local MAC counter today and bought two more bottles to make sure I was stocked up for a long time coming.
My only caveat is that I would recommend using the product in the shower instead of over your sink. It’s as black as it looks, and some people complain that it can leave a greyish residue on sinks that has to be scrubbed off. Because of the constantly running water in my shower, I haven’t had that problem. Other than that, I’ve now become part of this product’s hype.
Many places are beginning to sell out of this stuff, but it’s still available through Nordstrom, $19.50.
