I haven’t come across too many mascaras that I can just sweep on and be happy with the look.
Even a natural barely there look requires more than just a coat of your favorite tube. If you want to really reap the benefits of your makeup, it usually means a little extra effort.
For a full, thick and fanned out lash look (without the use of faux lashes), you need to apply two coats of a thickening mascara after you have curled lashes. (Try Mally Roncal’s 3 Step Maxed Out Curling Technique…)
Make sure you wait at least 30 seconds for each coat to dry. This will help prevent clumps. Then, apply a coat of lengthening mascara.
If you are going for a colored mascara, you might as well go full throttle. To max out the color, coat your lashes with a white primer.
It will cancel out your natural lash color, just like when you apply a white base to your nails before using a bright or light color.
Clinique has an excellent Lash Building Primer that will help your technicolor look pop.
