Taylor Swift, whose most recent album, Fearless, has broken sales records for female recording artists, has developed a line of summer dresses with l.e.i. The dresses, a steal at $14, will debut at Wal-Mart in February.

But don’t expect Taylor to become the next big celebrity designer:

I don’t look at it like I’m branching out as a designer. It’s not the Taylor Swift designer line or whatever. I like people who have worked their entire lives to become designers. I think that they have their place as designers and I have my place as a musician, and I’m going to pretty much stick t that.

Wow. When I first heard of Taylor’s collection for Wal-Mart, I rolled my eyes; celebrity design experiments are getting stale. But Swift comes off as incredibly down-to-earth with nearly everything she does: no small feat for a girl who has conquered the country (and pop) airwaves.
