Tip Stop – Cleaning your makeup brushes

brushes

How often should you wash your brushes?

The answer from most beauty experts appears to be every day. Bacteria and grime builds on brushes as soon as you use them. And, really, do you want to be using a brush that has day old foundation caked into it?

I incorporate brush washing as part of my everyday beauty routine. I do my makeup and then give my brushes a quick wash and then leave them to dry. It takes five minutes and it means I’m guaranteed a clean brush.

When you say you give the brushes “a quick wash” how do you do it? I usually wash each brush individually with baby shampoo, but it seems like it takes FOREVER….

From Jane: Hi Sarah, I wash mine in baby shampoo, rinse, apply conditioner, rinse again and then dry them. I’m a little lazy and wash them all together and it takes me around five minutes.
