Tip Stop: Get the 2008 Fall-Winter look
The 2008 fall/winter fashion shows featured plenty of gorgeous, goth-inspired fashions with faces to match. So how do you get the goth look without looking like, well, a goth? Here’s some tips from the make-up artist for Julian McDonald’s shows:

Velvet skin – strong lip and eye colours draw attention to skin, so a flawless base is essential. Use a demi-matte foundation and light dusting of powder, with light-reflecting concealer around eyes, on eyelids and around the nose and mouth.
Ruby lips – pat a berry coloured stain on your lips for daytime or apply a rich, deep berry tone with a lipbrush for evening, creating a full mouth.
Soft blush – a light sweep of bronzing powder under the cheekbones creates definition.
Dramatic eyes – smudge a black kohl pencil along the lid and under the lashes, and gently smudge with a cotton bud. Then line the inside of the lower lash line with the pencil. Curl lashes and apply 2-3 coats of black, voluminising mascara.
