Tip Stop – How to Keep Eyelashes Curled
Do you ever have the problem of your lashes losing its curl by the time you break for lunch? If you are blessed with Asian lashes like myself, I’m sure you know exactly what I’m talking about. I can’t even tell you how many of those “curl enhancing” mascaras I have tried in hopes of keeping a curl…all with no luck. Just when I was about to accept my fate, I learned a new process that actually works! However, be forewarned, it will require time and patience…but keep at it and you’ll be a pro in no time!
1. Oily lids prevent eyelashes from keeping a curl. Thus, take a non-oily make-up remover and gently apply to your eyelashes and lid with a q-tip.
2. Apply clear mascara. This will serve as a primer to help your mascara stay on and help hold the curl.
3. Heat up your eyelashes curler with either a blowdryer or running it under hot water for about 5 seconds. If you ran it under hot water, dry with a towel. Test the curler on your palm to make sure it is not too hot (Warning: The skin on your eyelids is extremely delicate, and thus, easy to burn. The curler only needs to be warm, not hot!).
4. Curl your lashes as usual. If your curler becomes cool, heat again.
5. Apply your eye makeup.
6. Apply a waterproof mascara. The waterproof formula contains waxes that will help keep your eyelashes curled. Like the hair on your head, any moisture will cause the hair to lose its curl. Thus, regular mascara tends to be too watery and will cause the lashes to uncurl. I personally recommend first applying a lengthening mascara followed by a volumizing one. Almay One Coat Triple Effect Mascara is a great all-in-one product ($8.19)!
Be patient and keep practicing…this process will only get easier! We all know nothing transforms the eyes quite like curled lashes!
