When I think of purple lips, I immediately go to a dark place. I think of the Goth scene that was gaining popularity when I was in school. (I believe it has since transformed into the “emo” look.)
However, we are talking lavender here. It’s a softer, almost magenta/pink trend. It’s fresh, fun and out of the pink/red/nude box.
Rihanna rocked the softer purple shade with a bright complimentary eyeshadow for a youth infused look in 2010. The trend has reheated just in time for spring.
Beyonce and her little sister are also fans of the look.
Generally speaking, everyone can rock it. Just about all skin tones will play well with the look, but those with darker hues will enjoy the best result.
If you are a fair faced girl, start with a neutral lipliner and then layer your lavender hue of choice. It will help the look go cooler. If you are dark beauty, start with a matching magenta or plum liner.
I like Buxom’s Lip Stick in Acapulco for a richer color. Shown above.
