Whey Soap: Nature’s Miracle Worker and Psoriasis Solution

I was excited to find a possible solution to sensitive skin. Some of my family members have the most sensitive skin and finding a natural solution was like looking for the Holy Grail. Dyes, harsh chemicals and moisture zapping products seemed to be some of the only easily accessible options.

An email led to a discovery of a wonderful answer. MoonEssence is an organic skincare line based in Petaluma, CA where they make a soap from natural, raw whey. Point Reyes Whey Soap is loaded in proteins that help nourish, heal and protect skin. It’s soothing and recommended for anyone with dermatitis, eczema, rosacea and skin allergies.

It sounded too good to be true, so, working with a wonderful contact, I was able to confirm with the company owner that the product is 100% natural.

“The only ingredients we use in all of our soaps is Organic coconut oil, Organic olive oil, palm oil, (whey) for the whey soap, and 100% steam distilled essential oils.”

Several skin care experts have also thrown their support into the one-of-a-kind wonder….

Reinhard R. Bergel, Ph.D. – Whey protein can be used externally to help with psoriasis. Consider a whey bath for relief of psoriasis symptoms. He recommends such a procedure for help with skin symptoms associated with aging, acne, eczema, fungal infections, sunburn, psoriasis and other skin conditions.. Soak 10 to 20 minutes.

Robert Haas, MS – The drug Raptiva® was approved by the FDA to treat psoriasis. It was recently withdrawn due to potentially fatal brain infections. Clinical studies show that bioactive sweet whey provides dramatic relief for individuals suffering from mild-to-moderate psoriasis. More than 60% of the study participants experienced improvements of 10-81% on a standardized score of the extent and severity of psoriasis. Regrettably, mainstream US doctors remain unaware of whey, a proprietary, purified, non-GMO that has been validated in clinical trials for mild-to-moderate psoriasis.

I personally tried the soap and sent some to my family to try out. The soap had a strong competitor. Psoriasis mixed with allergies and sensitivity were just some of the big pictures issues.

It feels so silky when washing. I was prepared for an extreme of too drying or too greasy, but it was welcomed soft finish. The level of moisture from a bar of soap was amazing without feeling chalky or heavy. The scent of lemongrass is subtle but still noticeable with a fresh, clean note. (They are available in a slew of other scents. I am going to try the Pumpkin Spice and Oatmeal & Tea Tree or Mojito next!) It delivered the same, if not better results, over the week long trial. I noticed a huge decline in the red tones in my skin after the first wash.

Aside from the 100% natural aspect and the fact that it works wonders…it is reasonably priced! Instead of forking over my piggy bank for a prescription treatment that would barely touch these results, $8 will buy a bar that will last a lot longer.
